Percussionist, writer, arranger, Darrell Tibbs is one of the most creative and tasteful percussionists around. With the ability to take anything he puts his hands on to create music, from traditional drums and percussion, to metal car parts, to water glasses on a table. He is able to draw sounds from places that most people don’t realize are there. Darrell is able to treat playing percussion for music as a chef would treat seasoning for a meal. Darrell knows when to add "salt and pepper" and when "special "seasoning is required.

Darrell started playing on everything at the young age of 5, which lead to him being in the junior high, and high school bands. He won several awards for solo and ensemble in the city and state competitions.

Upon entering collage he obtained Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alabama. At the university Darrell was exposed to a lot of different kinds of music. He performed with the orchestra, various jazz and rock bands, percussion ensembles, dance classes and playing in the pit for off Broadway musicals. During this time he also begin writing and arranging his own music.

After graduating from college, he was an artist in residence in Shreveport, Louisiana with the Louisiana Dance Foundation. Darrell was an accompanist for dance classes, working with guest artists such as Judith Jamison. After the artist in residence program Darrell returned to Huntsville, Alabama and began performing with the Huntsville and Muscle Shoales orchestras as well as various jazz and R & B groups regionally.

Darrell has toured with Donna Summer , Take Six, Ascenxion Band. Along the way he has performed with many major artists including Victor Wooten, Ann Nesby, Phil Keaggy, Itzhak Perlman, Paquito D’ Rivera, Nile Rogers, Omar Hakim, Chester Thompson, The Moody Blues Band, Ruben Studdard, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Morten Harket and many others. He has recorded with the Neville Brothers, Donna SummerKenny Loggins, Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Essix, Take Six, Steven Curtis Chapman, CeCe Winans, Marvin Winans, Victor Wooten, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Sam “Shake” Anderson, Brian McKnight, and Michael McDonald just to name a few.
